Important Session Information:

Do you need new ideas for teaching Newton’s laws and energy?  Maybe it’s time to look at the concepts through the eyes of a child!  Toys are a fun way to engage students and help them understand science while they make connections between their own world and scientific concepts. This session has two main objectives: 1) to help you have a deeper understanding of the principles involved in toy design and 2) understanding concepts such as Newton’s laws, energy transformations, energy conservation, and work.  Warning: This session may be highly addictive, and you may never pass up a garage sale or toy sale again.  This session is designed for middle school teachers, but can be adapted for elementary or high school.  TEKS addressed include, but not limited to, 6.8, 6.9, 7.7, 8.6.
