Making the First Year Fun: Best Practices for First Year Foreign Language Students Part 1 & 2

Languages Other than English (LOTE) is offered as an elective at many grade levels but is a requirement for graduation at the high school level.  LOTE encompasses many languages including Spanish, French, and German. These sessions are meant to engage LOTE teachers in best practices for language acquisition that can be used across any language.



Important Session Information:

These sessions are intended for teachers of 1st year foreign language students.  Part 1 will cover survival language, dictation, using language in context and developing all four language domains in a low stakes manner. Part 2 will cover reading and writing using multiple genres, reinforcing the use of all five language domains and developing metalinguistic awareness. These sessions are not language specific.  All LOTE teachers are invited to attend. Bring your fully charged devices.
