The Active Learning Academy is a 7-day training over the course of the school year to train teachers in using the Active Learning method. Active Learning was developed by Dr. Lilli Nielsen for children with visual impairments and multiple disabilities. This training will target how to work with students with Low Incidence Disabilities regardless of their chronological age. Participants will learn to recognize that learning for individuals with multiple disabilities happens better when there is active learning involved. Participants will receive the Functional Scheme Assessment, FIELA Curriculum and materials, and supplies to make materials that can be used immediately in the classroom with their students as well as follow-up classroom visits.
