The Teacher Preparation and Certification Program provides an opportunity for professionals from various fields to become teachers through an alternate route leading to certification in Texas. The primary goal of the Teacher Preparation and Certification Program is to prepare and certify successful self-confident teachers so that the best possible instruction will be offered to students.
Students in the Teacher Preparation and Certification Program at ESC-Region 19 will participate in a rigorous 12 month program. Training with TPCP involves face-to-face training at ESC-Region 19, individual book studies, and participation in conferences in addition to the face-to-face classes. An internship is also required to complete the program and may done as a non-paid clinical internship or as a paid hired internship. Students will need to speak to the Program Recruiter and/or Director prior to beginning either internship in order to verify all requirements have been met. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, internship, program recommendations, and a passing score on all necessary TExES exams. Participants will earn a Texas teaching certificate specific to their area of study.
