In this training you will become familiar with important McKinney-Vento Act concepts such as student eligibility, school selection, enrollment, transportation, and much more. We will address the barriers faced by many homeless students as well.

Important Session Information:
Students without homes have certain rights under the federal law. This law is the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Students and families may be unaware of their rights under this Act. School district staff have responsibilities to ensure the academic success of children and youth without homes. Region 19’s HEP provides training, information, and resources as to how best help these most vulnerable children succeed.
