Voice of the Mountains Conference 2024

We're excited to host our Voice of the Mountains Conference this year at our beautiful Head Start Multi Purpose Center! 

This face to face conference will cover various areas of Speech Language Pathology for all age levels. 6 total CEUs will be provided. The conference is appropriate for Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Pathologist Assistants working with the private sectors and school settings.

Important Breakout Information:

Session I:

Title: Got Ethics? Ethics for SLPs, SLPAs and Audiologists

Description: This session will review the ethical responsibilities of SLPs and SLPAs in Texas including the principles of the ASHA Code of Ethics. The course intent is to increase the knowledge of the purpose, derivation, and application of the ASHA Code of Ethics to develop professional ethical behaviors as a speech-language pathologist. Participants will demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in resolving hypothetical ethical dilemmas faced by professionals in this field. The purpose of the course is also to help establish, develop, and practice higher standards of professional conduct. This course will also satisfy the Texas State licensing board’s requirement of 2 CEUs of ethics training per renewal period and ASHA’s requirement of 1 CEU of ethics training per renewal period for the certificate of clinical competence.

Session II:

Title: Addressing Diverse Needs for an Equitable and Inclusive Learning Environment

Description: This session will review the ethical responsibilities of SLPs and SLPAs to address all student needs. Diversity is a fact in our practice and our obligation extends to addressing those needs for an equitable and inclusive learning environment. The course’s intent is to increase the knowledge, and understanding of how to support inclusive learning for students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Participants will demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in resolving hypothetical scenarios faced by professionals in this field. The purpose of the course is also to help establish, develop, and practice higher standards of professional conduct. This course will also satisfy ASHA’s requirement of 2 CEUs of DEI training per renewal period for the certificate of clinical competence.
