Developing Religious Literacy in The Classroom
A Social Studies Virtual Summit Offered By a Partnership Between ICS and ESC19

Teaching about religion is crucial for a comprehensive understanding of history and for fostering respect in a civic-minded society. Focusing on the NCSS’s C3 Supplement on Teaching about Religion, teachers will discuss the legal foundations in the United States for teaching about religion, use case studies to consider the very real challenges involved in teaching this topic, and review guidelines and digital options for incorporating the study of religion into their instruction, thus empowering teachers to navigate these complexities with confidence.
