Nature and Needs of Gifted Learners (6-Hour Foundational GT Training)

Gain a deep understanding of the unique benefits, characteristics, and challenges experienced by gifted and talented learners. In this engaging foundational training, participants will examine the history of gifted education, explore current legal requirements, and analyze various service design options that support gifted students. Through research-based learning and hands-on activities, participants will develop a stronger understanding of the nature and needs of gifted learners and effective educational practices that promote their success.

This asynchronous learning experience will begin with a live Zoom lecture in the morning, providing direct instruction, discussion, and opportunities for participant interaction. During the afternoon, participants will complete an independent project that applies the concepts learned throughout the session. Projects will be shared with the group at the end of the day, allowing participants to reflect on their learning and gain insights from colleagues.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of gifted education, practical strategies to support gifted learners, and 6 hours toward the required 30 hours of foundational Gifted and Talented training.
