The Civics Training Program is a three-day professional learning experience delivered by Education Service Center Region 19 in partnership with the Texas Education Agency to strengthen educators’ civic content knowledge and instructional practice. Aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, the training engages teachers, instructional coaches, and campus leaders in research-based, interactive learning focused on foundational civic concepts, constitutional principles, and effective pedagogy. Participants explore inquiry-based instruction, disciplinary literacy, and inclusive strategies that support diverse learners, including Emergent Bilingual students, while working with primary sources, civic discourse structures, and aligned instructional resources. Emphasis is placed on practical classroom application through collaborative planning, formative assessment, and lesson design. By the end of the program, educators leave with actionable tools and strategies to improve civic understanding, engagement, and academic outcomes for students and to support sustainable, high-quality civics instruction across campuses.
