Objective: During this session participants will connect the dots between family engagement and student achievement, reflect on the Core Beliefs of family engagement, discuss the differences between involvement, engagement, and empowerment, explore the components of the Dual Capacity Framework, and redesign traditional family engagement events into initiatives that build capacity and impact student learning and development.
Session Outcomes:
  • Understand the research that shows the impact of family engagement on student learning
  • Distinguish the differences between involvement and engagement 
  • Identify the Core Beliefs of engaging families.
  • Explore the Dual-Capacity Building Framework
  • Connect family engagement actions to school and student learning goals.
