Participants will receive a general overview of the unique needs of emergent bilingual students within the dyslexia evaluation process. This includes knowledge of (1) how the Dyslexia Handbook addresses emergent bilingual students; (2) the process of second language acquisition; (3) the benefits of bilingualism; (4) the various types of alphabetic systems that exist around the world ; (5) data gathering and formal evaluation; and (6) instructional programming for emergent bilingual students.
