ESC 19 Counselor Academy
Mastering the Art of Auditing Foreign Transcripts: Tools and Resources for School Counselors




The Counselor Academy is geared towards counselors with less than 3 years of experience, but all are welcome to any specific session.

Objective:

R19’s Counselor Academy is an opportunity for counselors to seek guidance while collaborating and networking with other new counselors across the region. Through this experience, counselors will gain tools to build successful programs while being supported and inspired throughout the process. These collaboration opportunities will provide an empowering environment  for counselors to learn effective proactive strategies while building professional confidence and forming powerful toolkits. 

Program Focus

Topics will vary by month. Topics this school year include: T-SCESS, Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, Foreign Transcript training, and TEA updates.

Important Session Information:


This innovative professional development opportunity will educate ESC Region 19 stakeholders in the areas of foreign education, cultural competency, and transcript evaluations. This session builds capacity in educators to not only utilize the digital resources offered as part of this training, but to own their knowledge beyond the product to make the most informed decisions possible.

The foreign transcript training will:

• Inform educators on credible resources to review foreign education records. 

• Build capacity in educators to support students from ALL countries. 

• Empower educators to be confident in their evaluations and make decisions that align with researched based best practices. 

• Establish conversations around global students that are consistent, efficient, and keep the student as a priority. 

• Provide recommendations for creating LEA systematic process for policy and/or procedure curation as it pertains to the review process of foreign education records. 

• Digital access to the Immigr8, Inc dashboard and portal for one year. 

• One manual per participant.
