Introduction:
The Summer Institute is a SIX-DAY intensive training session with a combination of presentations and opportunities to work directly with students with autism spectrum disorders under the direction of experienced trainers.
Training will emphasize topics basic to the Structured Teaching Model; characteristics and nature of autism; structured teaching approach to education; working with families; assessment, language and communication; independence and vocational skills; social and leisure skills; and behavior management.
Overview:
Participants will be selected based on the population they serve and their commitment to implementing the model.
All district participants must have approval of the district Special Education Director or designated contact.
