Session Detail

Title IX Training
May 11 (PM Session)

All agencies that receive any type of federal funding, regardless of participation in the Perkins CTE program, are subject to the federal civil rights statutes prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, sex, and age. This training session will address key requirements of Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in agencies that receive federal funding. The session will focus on the duties and responsibilities of school districts' Title IX Coordinators, the need for local Title IX anti-discrimination policies, and the specific requirements for local Title IX grievance procedures, particularly as the US Department of Education engages in the process of amending the Title IX regulations in this area. The session will review important OCR guidance on the topic, as well as requirements for grievance procedures addressing discrimination on the basis of disability under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
