2021 - 2022 Region 19 STEM Collaborative
STEM Literacy for English Learners




Collaborative Participants will have:
  • Priority access to the 16 or more STEM training sessions at no extra cost
  • Free materials (STEM kits, books, etc.) and resources with most sessions
  • Networking opportunities with STEM educators from Region 19 and around the state
  • Firsthand Visits to STEM Active Learning Communities fostering next level STEM with Q&A thereafter
  • Mentoring opportunities with STEM teachers/leaders and industry
  • Active learning Field trips with hands-on activities and lessons included
  • Priority access to TEA-sanctioned STEM teacher training
  • Follow-up campus support and instructional coaching opportunities (1 per semester)

Important Session Information:


This session will focus on providing teachers with strategies and activities to build literacy and engage English Learners in the STEM/PBL setting.  Considering the importance of giving students opportunities to practice the most relevant and crucial working skills needed to compete and succeed in the dynamic world of the modern workplace, this session will focus on developing and fostering these attributes for students within an inclusive and TEKS-aligned STEM setting.  The foundational purpose is to build community, confidence, and leadership in our EL students.
