Mine, Mine! Teaching Methods to Promote Social Skills in Early Childhood Settings

Young learners can be inquisitive, exploratory, and...well, territorial at times! Teaching social skills at an early age can foster successful peer relationships, increase inclusive opportunities, and enhance social communication.  Participants will acquire strategies for teaching students critical social skills during play and work times. Audiences will be able to 1) recognize, compare, and contrast social development milestones in young children, 2) identify "red flags" in social-emotional development, and 3) incorporate skill acquisition through modeling, direct teaching, video-modeling, and positive reinforcement. Turn "mine, mine!" into "yours, mine, and ours"!
