Autism through the Eyes of a General Education Teacher




This session will provide an overview on Autism and suggest evidence-based instructional strategies to promote independence and encourage academic, social, communication and behavioral success for students with Autism in the classroom setting.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Identify and describe characteristics associated with Autism
  • Identify possible evidence-based strategies and best practices for educating students with Autism in the classroom
  • Identify possible material and resources to assist in collaborative planning and program implementation

As more students with autism spectrum disorders are included in general education classes, the need for basic information about autism from the perspective of a general educator has grown.

 This course will provide an overview on autism and suggest evidence-based instructional strategies to promote independence and encourage academic, social, communication and behavioral success for students with autism in the general education classroom setting.
