CTE Work-Based Learning and Training Plans

Under Perkins V, all CTE programs of study will include the opportunity for Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences that, at the capstone level, include employability skills and the demonstration of said employability skills prior to completion of the course/capstone experience.  Texas Education Agency is also working to develop a statewide framework for WBL to expand opportunities for students down to elementary school.  As per the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH), Written training plans must be on file for any student participating in either a paid or unpaid learning experience at an approved training site. This session will focus on WBL as well as training plan updates and requirements.  Guest presenter Ron Whitson has many years of experience working in CTE Administration for Texas schools districts as well as for TEA Career and Technical Education.  Participants will benefit from his practical, hands-on experience.
