All school districts have children who struggle with functional communication. This training is designed to help both the SLP, staff, and Teachers work towards the goal of functional communication with non-verbal children who are NOT already using electronic communication systems. As a result of this presentation you will be able to:
- Describe the use of and difference between core and fringe vocabulary.
- Demonstrate the functional use of a communication board.
- Integrate functional communication with the use of literacy.
Participants will create a functional communication system during the make and take section.
