Utilizing the Focus on Woodcock Munoz Language Survey (WMLS) III When Assessing for Dyslexia in English Language Learners

Assessing dyslexia in students deemed English Language Learners (ELL) requires a different evaluation process. Consequently, the professional involved in the assessment, interpretation of assessment results, and identification of ELL is different than traditional assessment approaches and requires additional knowledge in second language acquisition. This workshop will provide a brief overview of second language acquisition and how dyslexia manifests differently in ELLs. The workshop will also highlight the WMLS III English and Spanish batteries and focus on the use within dyslexia evaluation for ELL students.
