Grading can
often be a conundrum for teachers, administrators, and parents. Grades should
accurately reflect the student's relative mastery of the curriculum (i.e.,
TEKS). In order to make grades accurate and fair, schools should provide
students with clear and compelling standards for grading. Because teachers
exercise judgment in grading in the classroom, there is room for subjectivity
ot enter the grading arena. This becomes especially challenging when teachers
are also implementing IEP's in both self-contained and inclusive settings. In
this session you will leave with an understanding of the decision making
responsibilities related to grading, best practices for grading assignments and
progress monitoring IEPs. Each participant will receive a copy of the state
resource "Grading and Progress Monitoring for Students with Disabilities-A
Resource for Teachers."
