The Visual Impairment Scale of Service Intensity of Texas (VISSIT) is a tool to help itinerant teachers of students with visual impairments determine the type and amount of service for each student based on student need as indicated by evaluation data. It focuses on all areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum so that the appropriate amount of direct and collaborative consultation time is allocated in order to meet student needs. A comparable tool, the O&M VISSIT, is now available to help O&M specialists determine quantifiable service time to recommend.
Reflective Analysis of Student Work (RASW) is a process that was developed by Granite State College that supports teachers in the areas of lesson planning, formative assessment, reflective analysis, collaboration, and lesson implementation. The RASW process helps teachers know if their instruction is impacting student outcomes or not by teaching them to reflect on each lesson as to why or why not the student is learning. RASW brings focus to improving teacher instruction and student learning. It is a process of teamwork and modeling that challenges educators to reflect on their curriculum, instruction, and evaluation techniques to collaboratively work to improve teaching and student outcomes.
