Collaboration for Success: Students with Visual Impairments Accessing the General Curriculum



In order for students who have visual impairments to access the curriculum, specially designed instruction and support from various staff is critical. A visual impairment, which includes blindness, limits access to information at a distance. Therefore, modifications, accommodations and use of various materials are necessary. The team includes: the classroom teacher, the teacher of visually impaired, the paraprofessional, the orientation and mobility specialist and administrators. Come to learn and and ask questions.

Important Session Information:

Participants will learn about the role of staff who serve students who have visual impairments in order to collaborate effectively to ensure student achievement. Staff includes:  Teacher of Visually Impaired, Orientation and Mobility Specialist, paraprofessional, general or Special Ed. Staff and administrators. Staff from the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) will present instructional strategies to more effectively include students who have visual impairments in general and special education settings.
