This year’s Education Service Center – Region 19’s “From PBIS To ISF: Blending Education & Mental Health” Conference will provide an opportunity for local schools to not only start or advance their PBIS framework, but to take the steps necessary to create a sustainable Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF). This ISF will integrate Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and School Mental Health within the school system. The goal is to blend resources, training, systems, data, and practices in order to improve outcomes for all children and youth. There is an emphasis on prevention, early identification, and intervention of the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students. Family and community partner involvement is critical to this framework and essential to youth behavioral and mental health outcomes. Including families’ perspectives, values and voices within the development and implementation of a PBIS system allows the school to become responsive to the needs of their students and families.
